Since I had been to his honor roll assembly earlier I happened to still have the camera with me!! joy!! pictures for the blog!! :) This pic doesn't do it justice...notice the blood spatters on his pants.
The doc came in and after one glance said yep...stitches. after determining that not muscles or tendons were damaged she left the room and he asked for me come hold his hand and sit by him, he was shaking with nerves.
While she numbed his finger and started stitching, he had his head turned and said he was just going to talk to me to distract himself. He talked and talked and told me all about his book on tape he is listening to. towards the end he took a peek and found it very interesting to see the needle sew him up, he was good a numb and not feeling a thing :)
She wrapped it up real good plus the finger next to it, so he would be flipping people off, and instructed us to keep that on for three days then change it everyday after that. Come back in 10 to 14 days to get then removed. He was very excited now to go to school the next day and show off his bandages and tell his harrowing story.
After the three day we were able to take off the bandage and show everyone his beautiful blue stitches. They were all duly impressed.
One of the funny things about it all was that after it happened, he kept saying to Chad "i hope it doesn't turn green! I hope it doesn't turn green!. Apparently had watched a movie about guys on a ship back in the day and there was fight and after getting injured one of sailors got ganged green and had to have his arm amputated, and he had also read about a similar story in a book recently. As he told me about this I said "Casey, do you think it would turn green right away?" He said "yes", I could help but giggle as I thought about him looking at his cut and watching it, waiting to see if it turned color.
I have now shown him and all the kids how to properly cut a carrot and the correct utensil to use so that we have no more trips to urgent care.

That looks yucky! I have the same problem with kitchen tools, they always bite me and make me bleed.
